US Senator Dick Lugar Statement and Resolution Honoring Poland President

Dear AmCham Members,

Attached please find U.S. Senator Dick Lugar’s statement and resolution for Congressional Record on the death of Polish President Lech Kaczyński, his wife and 94 others who were on board of the Presidential aircraft on April 10, 2010.

The resolution has been put in context of the Katyń massacres executed by the Soviet Union 70 years ago and honors the lives and legacies of the Polish officers killed.

AmCham in grief over Poland’s National Tragedy

AmCham in grief over Poland’s National Tragedy

We are all in deep mourning over the tragic death of Polish President Lech Kaczyński, his wife Maria and all other Polish officials and crew that died in the tragic plane crash on Saturday.

On Saturday, on behalf of the American investors in Poland, the Board of Directors of AmCham have sent letters of condolences to the Prime Minister, other top Polish government representatives and to families of those who died. We have also sent obituaries notices to the main Polish daily newspapers, of which Rzeczpospolita published one today.

Attached is an evaluation of the tragedy and its implication for Poland as drafted and published yesterday by Marek Matraszek, AmCham member, that we would like to share with you.

Let us all be together in these tragic days.

Connecting in grief and mourning,

Roman Rewald
Board of Directors
American Chamber of Commerce
